Double Bill 18th May

A brilliant night with the Date Brothers and Daniel Weltlinger.  World class musicians, foot tapping to the music days after the concert. Photos are now uploaded on the website ‘Photo Gallery’ page… http://liveatthevillage.com.au/index.php?splash=1

Our next concert is a change of pace.  Four great improvising musicians in the band Amphibious will play some beautiful work which owes as much to the classical music background of some members, as to contemporary jazz. Here is a sample of their new CD Splendid Virgins.  splendidvirgins

It’s a double bill.  The first set features Gary Daley and Friends, including bassist Brett Hirst, Gary on accordion and Llew Kiek bozouki etcetera.   Details contained in the Events Schedule tab.

Date Brothers and Daniel Weltlinger this Friday 20/4

It’s going to be a great night in Springwood with the world’s best players of “Hot Club”  gypsy swing  in the style of Django Reinhardt and Stephan Grapelli.

Ian and Nigel Date on Guitars, Daniel Weltlinger violin and Melbourne bassist Howard Cairns will play classics and original compositions.  A week or so back on radio they played a gypsy jazz version of the Deep Purple classic Smoke on the Water, so it looks like we could be in for some surprises.  They are also very humorous, it’s going to be a fun night.

There will be tickets at the door.  $30 or $20 concession.
